Swedish pole vaulting phenomenon Armand Duplantis won a second world championship title, but failed to raise the world record to 6.23m on Saturday at the World Athletics Championships in Budapest.
Duplantis (23), guaranteed to be a gold medalist at 6.10m, stumbled three times on a bar hoisted to 6.23m, one centimeter higher than his last world record, established in FEBRUARY. The Filipino Ernest John Obiena, the only one to have accompanied Mondo at 6 meters, is a silver medalist. American Christopher Nilsen and Australian Kurtis Marschall share the bronze medal, both up to 5.95m.
