On the second day of his Cuban trip, the British heir to the throne Prince Charles with President Miguel Díaz-Canel met. A spokesman for the Cuban government said the call on Monday evening was marked by mutual respect. The Prince and the President talked about plans for closer relations between the two countries, for example in terms of education, health, culture and environmental protection.
It is the first Time that a member of the British Royal family travels to Cuba. Before dinner, the heir to the throne was unveiled in a historic district of Havana, a monument in honor of William Shakespeare. On Tuesday, Charles met and his wife Camilla with a number of owners of classic cars and visited the John Lennon Park, where a Statue to the murdered Beatle remembered.
The visit to Cuba is part of a Caribbean tour of Charles and Camilla. The UK wants to invest in the US sanctions affected the socialist Caribbean state. On Wednesday, the heir to the throne and his wife continue their journey and visit next the Cayman Islands. (fal/afp)
