Enrique Moreno (Ciudadanos) is the Ciudadanos candidate for Jaen’s province. He has today praised the efforts of farmers in Jaen to modernize and advance their farms. Through different aid lines, he has also highlighted the support they received with Ciudadanos en la Junta de Andalucia over the past three and a quarter years. This modernization “undoubtedly results” in more efficient farms and, consequently, an increase in their competitiveness.
The candidate from the liberal formation pointed out that the agri-food industry of Jaen received, since 2019, when Ciudadanos joined the Andalusian government, a total 427 aid of 17.7 million euros to enhance farms. “The vast majority, more then 15 million euros, were files relating to the olive grove.”
These statements were made by Moreno during a visit at the San Julian de Marmolejo cooperative. He was accompanied by Trinidad Cabrero (Cs coordinator in the area), as well as Fernando Padilla, president of the cooperative and other members on the board of directors. “The candidacy for Ciudadanos, Jaen, continues to embrace rural world, like we have done through this legislature,” stated the head of the list. He said that Moreno has appreciated “the amazing modernization process that this cooperative has undertaken” and that it has allowed it “improve its energy efficiency, resulting in an improvement in its production cost.”
Even so, Moreno lamented that they are facing the “same issues that the rest of the oil growers in the province are experiencing” and he demanded that Spain’s Government “not allow one more drop of olive oils across our borders that doesn’t meet the same sanitary phytosanitary and socio-labor conditions as the Jaen farmers”. This he described as unfair competition.
He also demanded that water be distributed fairly and evenly and that the extraordinary risks associated with the olive grove are redistributed immediately. The orange candidate assured that citizens would fight to defend Jaen’s countryside and criticised that the “two great parties in Spain, the PSOE or the PP”, have not taken action to address this problem. He stated that Jaen is watching water flow by and demanded a fair and equitable distribution of olive oil to ensure our trees are irrigated.
He defended his position by saying, “Ciudadanos has been the main ally of Jaen’s olive grove, and we won’t allow a CAP such as the one proposed Minister Planas. It supposes a reduction in the assistance of Jaen farmers. Because the Jaen olive tree cannot afford to lose even one euro more,”
