According to the Metropolitan Police force, officers were dispatched to investigate reports that a man carrying a gun had entered a bank in Kensington and bookmakers in west London.
Officers stopped him in his vehicle as he fled the scene. The wealthy neighborhood is home to many embassies, the palace and the official London residence of Prince William and Kate, along with their three children. There are also several members of the royal family who call it home.
According to the force, “shots were fired” and a man was shot in the head. He was declared dead on the spot.
According to police, the incident is not being considered terrorism.
According to the force, the police standards body was called in as usual for shootings involving police officers.
