east Jutland Police have taken the consequence of several days of rioting in Gellerupparken and introduced a strengthened strafzone.
It means that the punishment for vandalism, violence against police, arson and violation of våbenloven is doubled, if committed within the zone. It writes the police in a press release.
– We have now through several days seen that a group of rioters påsætter fires and throwing stones and fireworks and on the way creates a great deal of insecurity among the vast majority of law-abiding citizens in the area. We estimate that strafzonen can be a tool to crack down on the people who make trouble and on the way to create peace for everyone else out there, says inspector Martin Løye.
The enhanced strafzone apply from Monday 8. June at 22 and goods provisionally until Tuesday 16. June 16 o’clock.
