Many years of memories are gone for Mek Pek.

The Danish musician and entertainer has been disabled private and professional profiles on Facebook and Instagram – apparently because his name is no longer authorised on the social media.

‘Yes, Facebook has closed my Mek Pek-profiles without justification. When I would activate them again, they informed me that Mek Pek and the Mek Falk was not the Facebook-approved names, so the names should I not use anymore (after 16 years on FB???), he writes in a posting on his new profile, which he now says Mikael Falk.

Ekstra Bladet has spoken with the 56-year-old Mek Pek, which is dubbed the Mek Falk, who find it difficult to understand why his name has suddenly become a problem after many years on Facebook, which also owns Instagram.

Last Friday he woke up to a message on his personal profile, as well as a number of pages such as ‘Mek Pek Party Band’ and several others had been disabled, until he identified himself via a link.

I tried, but there was not really anything. A little later in the day I tried again, and then wrote something in the style of that now, it was deactivated and deleted. And I could not do anything about, he says, and continues:

– So I thought I am good enough just what I could do. Now I have had it for 16 years, and I have been called Mek Pek in 40 years. This is my brand. My ranger is Mechanical Falk, and I could not even be allowed to call my profile. I also tried the Mek as a middle name, but no.

A resigned Mek Pek decided in the first place that it all could just be just very much, and so he would not use the social media.

– But you’ve still built something up over the years, you’ve been on. It has been so smart, that when you had a concert, so one could just put an event up, and so knew that it came out to a lot of people.

I almost gave up, but I could not follow with everything else, which I usually follow. So a little later I tried again, but it still worked not. For fun I wrote so Mikael Falk – and so was that! So, I could make a profile with the same phone number and same email. So it was very strange, he says.

Therefore, says he now Mikael Falk on Facebook, which is not optimal – and, incidentally, also against the rules, because he neither called or being called Mikael.

– Professionally, I used the profile very much to inform people, who wanted to see me perform. Now, there has not been so much of it at the last, but then I have the put videos up – in fact, 21 of the coronatiden, where I have put a nursery up every day, until the children started in kindergarten and schooling again.

– They are also away. I have, of course, even the videos, but there were really many views on, and yes … it is indeed a hell. But why is it suddenly forbidden to be called Mek Pek or Mek Falk on Facebook? I understand it’s just not, he says.

– But I never got the answer, tell Mek Pek. Photo: Private

It is not quite easy to get in touch with Facebook for help, when there are problems, and therefore, Mek Pek also not optimistic about the opportunity to be allowed to be called his name again.

– It is just many years of memories that are gone. It is nice when you get a message that ‘seven years ago, did you make it here’, and there are also the videos I’ve posted, as I believe that many families with children have seen, says a frustrated Mek Pek, that joker with that otherwise he must rebrand himself as Mikael Falk.

– So I can take on tour with Poul Krebs. Maybe we can make a trio – Krebs, Falch and Falk, laughing, Mek Pek, with reference to the singer Michael Falch.
