The Bernese do it with fervor, the Basel also: you can be on a hot summer’s river days drifting downward. The Basel in the Rhine, the Berne on the Aare. And the Limmat? Wrong, Swimming is normally forbidden: Too much boat traffic, too much flow, too many obstacles and little exit opportunities.
The change wanted Daniel Häuptli (GLP, Zurich). Not the flow, of course, is as it is. But Häuptli suggested, the Limmat river at certain times to allow for a Swim in the Limmat, at least temporarily. As an example, he mentioned the inline tours under the title “Monday Night Skate” every two weeks in the evening, on specially closed-off routes through the city. Of course, there is a need to realize the idea of a new pair of phase-conductors, Häuptli, but that’s not cost all the world: “Let us work together to this idea.”
The Limmat river ship, however,
The majority of the Kantonsrats not thought of. Lorenz Habicher (SVP, Zurich) warned of the dangers of swimming in the Limmat river are not to be underestimated: “A large part of the float would not leave the river Limmat over the ladders, but the military pulled out.” Ruth Ackermann (CVP, Zürich) was the idea of “gorgeous” to let in the cool river running through the city on the Limmat river boat trip would have to be significantly reduced.
