Finland’s social democrats, SDP, has declared victory in Sunday’s elections to the reichstag.
– For the first time since 1999 we are the largest party in Finland. SDP is statsministerpartiet, says party leader Antti Rinne on Sunday at 22.30-time Danish time.
But only about 5100 votes stand the social democrats and The True Finns.
98 percent of the votes are counted. The SPD retains a narrow lead by 17.7 percent of the vote, compared with 17.6 percent for The True Finns who become Finland’s second largest party after the election, shows the count on the ministry’s website.
Prime minister Juha Sipilä had earlier in the evening recognize that his centre party is the election loser.
