too few are convicted of rape. It is an announcement from minister Eva Kjer Hansen (V), which would have amended the penal code section on rape.
This writes the Newspaper Denmark
– There must be a better legal protection. There are far too few rape cases that end up with a judgment. We can look at the statistics, that many not critic, and I think it’s to do with the fact that giving up in advance, because there still are so few being convicted.
– It is simply not good enough in the Danish society – that we are not able to provide a better protection of women, says Eva Kjer Hansen to the newspaper, Denmark.
the Minister has identified three circumstances, she believes, will make the process easier in the future – both in the notification and due process. Today the victim must among other things be able to prove that it has done enough resistance in the situation.
– It is the case that a great many women freezer, as you call it. They become paralyzed by fear or anxiety that it gets worse, if they resist. It is to the disadvantage of the woman, one can not make resistance, when you are “frozen”.
the Minister acknowledges that her proposal will not solve all problems, and there will still be a grey area, where it is assertion against assertion.
But there are a number of situations where you can easily sharpen the rules, she thinks.
– It can be, for example, when there is more of it, and where they even shoot and maybe share it on the social media. If it is occurred a strange or unlikely place, or if the woman has been almost unconscious, and thus not in a position to oppose the rape.
– If the thing is taken in as something that must be assessed in relation to whether a rape has taken place or not, I believe, that we will see many more convictions, says Eva Kjer Hansen to the newspaper, Denmark.
