The gross domestic product (GDP) of the euro zone increased very slightly (0.1%) in the first quarter of 2023 compared to the previous quarter, after having stagnated during the last three months of 2022, the Eurostat institute announced on Friday.

For the European Union as a whole, GDP growth rebounded, with an increase of 0.3% after a decline of 0.1% in the fourth quarter of 2022, said the European statistics office. GDP stagnated in Germany, marked a slight acceleration in France (0.2%) and fell in two of the twenty countries sharing the single currency (Austria and Ireland).
