Juan Francisco Casas’ Juan Francisco Casas Exhibition Hall hosts the third edition ‘Illustrated Nepotism’, which was curated by Juan Francisco Casas, an internationally recognized artist. It is one of the most prominent showcases of contemporary Spanish arts. The poster features 16 artists: Santiago Sierra, winner at Venice Biennale of the Golden Lion and National Prize for Plastic Arts, Eugenio Merino and Montserrat Osuna, Juana Gonzaga, Carmen Garcia Huerta and Juan Fernandez Alava.

The “little joke” that gave rise to the name “Illustrated Nepotism” is what gave rise to the title. Juan Francisco Casas’ circle includes the artists who will be exhibiting in the exhibition. They use the concept of friendship as an excuse to show in the gallery. It never loses its quality, however. Some of the works displayed include “La quema del ninot”, by Eugenio Merino, and Santiago Sierra. This piece was first exhibited at Arco, and has just arrived from Guggenheim. It is a projection that, at the time, was controversial because it burned the King. Live music by Ira Torres completes the picture. Maria Lamuy’s work was also exhibited at Madrid’s Palacio de Cibeles. The street map was created by the creator, who renamed the streets to reflect the hate crimes committed in each one.

Yolanda Reche, the mayor; Marcos Antonio Garcia, the Councilor for Culture; Juan Francisco Casas; and Luis Jesus Garcia Lomas, the manager of Caja Rural de Jaen Foundation inaugurated the exhibition. It is open until September 4, in the Carolina Room.

“Illustrated nepotism 3” is a prominent pictorial exhibit. However, you can also view sculptures, video art, or interventions. In short, it’s a collection of proposals that allow one to understand the world of an entire generation. Reche stated that the Juan Francisco Casas exhibit hall serves the purpose of bringing culture closer into the lives of citizens, particularly contemporary art. It hosts three major calls per year: Art Apart, which is aimed at emerging artists, and the Prize for Plastic Arts La Rural, which is aimed towards established artists. “We are making great efforts to put La Carolina on the map for contemporary art. The mayor stated that all the work has been fruitful, not only due to the creation of a program, a stable audience, and also because of quality proposals.

Juan Francisco Casas, for his part, acknowledged that this issue is a return of normality in La Carolina’s work. It is an exhibition that has a playful atmosphere and aims to represent the Spanish and sometimes international art scene. It is also a chance to meet new friends. You can view important pieces such as paintings, drawings and installations, sculptures, political art, photographs and textile sculptures .
