According to the rating firm, both Santander and Banorte already have a lot of experience in consumer banking, which would make it easier to manage Citi’s portfolio in Mexico.
The rating agency believes that Santander, the only foreign bank that opts for Citi’s Mexican bank, has a good chance of winning the auction. The only entity that can overshadow it, in its opinion, is Banorte, number two in the ranking.
