Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore looks a lot like its predecessor Crimes of Grindelwald (2018). It is also a much more serious movie than the 2016 original, which was a light and magical film. Crimes of Grindelwald’s tone is darker and more serious than the original movie, which was much more cheery. The new movie seems to be fairly consistent with the first film, which is not necessarily a bad thing. Let’s hope that the magic adds some color to this movie.

4. We will get more Dumbledore
Jude Law’s Dumbledore wasn’t featured in Crimes of Grindelwald despite his appearance in trailers and posters. This was a shame as he looked great in the tunic and beard. If the trailer this time is any indication, Dumbledore may be leading the action more often than Newt Scamander, Eddie Redmayne. Trailers can tell lies, and they shouldn’t! Dolores Umbridge might be able to teach them a lesson.
3. It will tie into Harry Potter
This spin-off series is, like many prequels. It takes place decades before Harry Potter. This is evident from the first scene of the trailer which shows an older Albus Dumbledore (Michael Gambon), and then jumps back to the Jude Law version. Even a younger Hogwarts was seen in Crimes of Grindelwald, which somehow also included a younger Professor McGonagall. We don’t know how this series will end up leading to Harry Potter, but we are willing to bet our bottom Galleon it will involve Tom Riddle…
2. There will be a war
In true prequel fashion the Fantastic Beasts series is building toward an epic war between Wizarding Worlds and Muggle Worlds (although we’ve already been there and worn the t-shirt in Harry Potter movies). Although Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them did not tease this event, it did introduce Gellert Grindelwald who is determined to pit his people against non-magic folk. It remains to be seen if this war will take place in the movie, or in a future installment. However, it is known that there will be five Fantastic Beasts movies.
1. We are going back to Hogwarts
The trailer for Fantastic Beasts 2: The Secrets of Dumbledore shows quite a lot of the School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. It is a pleasant surprise. There are some stunning overhead shots and interior shots. The trailers end with Dumbledore and his gang entering the Room of Requirement. This is one of many local haunts featured in the Harry Potter series. It’s not clear what they might require from it. They need it, so the name!
Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore stars Jude Law and Eddie Redmayne. Mads Mikkelsen will be in the theaters on April 8, 2022.
