Houston, who was just 27 years old at the time, wore a simple white track suit and walked out onto Tampa Stadium to belt out the national anthem.

This performance opened one of the most watched events of the year with almost 80 million people watching the game and experiencing her voice and her delivery.

Houston’s strong delivery and powerful vocals are a standard for Super Bowl performances.

This year, the 31st anniversary Houston’s performance will mark Super Bowl  The national anthem will be , performed by the celebrated country singer Mickey Guyton.

ET spoke to Guyton about the possibility. “I believe that everyone would love to perform at Super Bowl at one point or another. She said that she had never considered it a possibility. “I just loved watching the national anthem. At every basketball game, I sang the national song at my high school. It is a song I am familiar with, but it was not possible for me to sing. Now that we are here, I am completely overwhelmed and grateful.
