SLEEP is essential for our body and its functions go far beyond the recovery of energy expenditure during the day. The world day of sleep , this year, next Friday, is the opportunity to take awareness of the fact that during the night we sleep less and less, and getting worse. In Italy it is estimated that 9 million people suffer from chronic insomnia. In the long run, the consequences of a bad sleep can be far more serious of the abbiocco in the afternoon and range from cardiovascular problems to obesity, through to developmental disorders of young children and susceptibility to diabetes. However, in a society that is racing and is dominated by e-mail and notifications and respond promptly, we often end up considering the hours I spent in the arms of Morpheus as time thrown.
