Hugo Urquizar from Bola de Partido La Zubia participates enthusiastically in the 2022 European Youth Championship. It takes place in Belgrade, Serbia (Serbia), between July 15 and 16. Urquizar was called up to this European tournament for the second time. As a first-year child, he traveled to Varazdim (Croatia) last year.
Before travelling to Belgrade, CTM La Zubia cadets and Andalusian representatives in the competition were in San Cugat, preparing for the Spanish team.
He competed in the Spanish Championship in Cartagena where he finished third in youth teams. Manuel Parrizas and Ivan Urquizar were also there.
Spain will compete in the U15/U19 highest category, both individually and in teams. There will be five U19 athletes and four U15 athletes competing. The U15 Spanish team will be competing in the Benat Garcia, Alejandro Vivo and Francesc Carrera tests. In group A, Francesc Carera, Francesc Carrera, Hugo Urquizar and Francesc Carrera will face off against France, Romania, and Belgium. Meanwhile, Maria Berzosa and Camila Moscoso, Sofia Couce, and Irina Gmeno will compete against France, Turkey, and Croatia in the first phase. There are 18 Spanish athletes in total. The women’s cadet teams play against Turkey and France. The cadet men’s cadet team will take on France and Belgium. The group matches against Croatia in women’s draw and against Romania in men’s draw will be concluded on Thursday.
The U19 teams were placed in groups B in the male category and group B in the female category. This is the highest category in the competition. Men’s teams will be led by Arnau Pons and Iker Gonzalez, Daniel Berzosa and Jose Carlos Guillot. They will face Portugal, Italy, Portugal, and Poland in the group stage. The Spanish women’s U19 squad will include Elvira Rad and Eugenia Sastre as well as Ainhoa Cristobal and Silvia Coll. They will also face France, Turkey, and the Czech Republic.
The Spanish youth team will open the Spanish participation with a match against Poland. They will then face Portugal. France and Turkey will be the opponents for the women’s team. They will be completing their participation in Group A against Italy (men), and the Czech Republic(women).
