Phil Jones can sleep soundly and quietly at night again. The English defender has now got a grip on his future, which might otherwise have been uncertain after this season.
Until now, the 26-year-old midterforsvarer had his contract this summer, but Manchester United can now inform you that he has signed a contract extension which ties him to the English team until the summer of 2023.
– I’m thrilled to have written a new contract. Manchester United has been a big part of my life for eight years, and I love everything about the club. I’m excited for the challenges that lie ahead, as we prepare for a very busy period of the season. I would like to thank Ole and coaching staff for their continued support in my development, says Phil Jones in a press release.
Ole Gunnar Solskjær welcomes also kontraktforlængelsen, and the Norwegian manager call Phil Jones a player who is heading into his best years.
– Phil knows what it takes to be a Manchester United player. He has won Premier League, FA Cup and Europa League, and now he is one of the most experienced players on the team. He approaches his 27. birthday and goes into his best years as a midterforsvarer. We are thrilled that Phil has committed his future to the club.
Phil Jones, who the age of 27 to the 21. February, came to Manchester United from Blackburn in the summer of 2011, and he has since then appeared 208 times for The Red Devils.
