Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo and Lakers star LeBron James remain at the top of fan votes for the NBA All Star Game scheduled for February 18 in Indianapolis, after the second count revealed Thursday.

Antetokounmpo comes in first with 3,475,698 votes, which places him at the top of the Eastern Conference, while James is credited with 3,096,031 votes, leading the Western Conference. The two stars were already captains of the two opposing teams at the previous All Star Game

The holders of the 73rd edition of the All-Star Game will be determined by a formula combining the votes of the public (50%), players (25%) and specialized journalists (25%).

Behind Antetokounmpo in the East, the reigning MVP Joel Embiid (Philadelphia) with 2,975,987 votes, Jayson Tatum (Boston) who has 2,939,663, the Pacers’ fullback Tyrese Haliburton (2,192,810) and the Hawks leader Trae Young (1,449,485) who is narrowly ahead of Damian Lillard (1,414,122), Giannis’ teammate in Milwaukee.

In the West, behind James, we find the double MVP of Denver Nikola Jokic, reigning NBA champion (2,777,068), the star of Phoenix Kevin Durant (2,773,809), the Slovenian genius of the Dallas Mavericks, Luka Doncic, who has 2,508,618 votes and Stephen Curry (2,126,037), quadruple NBA champion with the Warriors.

The 2024 All Star Game will take place in its traditional East/West configuration, the NBA having abandoned the formula used for the last six seasons, with two players with the most votes choosing their team from a random draw of players appointed as incumbents.
