Coach of the Argentinian hopefuls qualified for the Paris Olympic Games, Javier Mascherano opened the door on Sunday to star Lionel Messi, if the latter wished to join his team as a reinforcement of over 23 years old. Argentina won on Sunday one of the two South American tickets for the men’s tournament of the Paris Olympic Games (July 26-August 11), which it won in 2004 and 2008, beating Brazil (1-0 ) in Caracas.

“Everyone knows my relationship with Leo. […] He has the door open to join us,” commented Mascherano after the meeting, who played with Messi in the jerseys of Argentina and FC Barcelona. At the Games, the selections of players under 23 may be reinforced by three elements exceeding this age limit.

Before the pre-Olympic tournament, which qualified Paraguay with Argentina, Mascherano had also mentioned the possibility of entrusting the direction of the Olympic selection for Paris to the head coach of the Albiceleste, Lionel Scaloni.
