KATHMANDU – The Nepal closes all of its peaks of the himalayas, including Mount Everest (8848 meters), from the 14th to the 30th of April to the numerous mountaineers that with the arrival of summer, began to climb the 14 eight-thousanders on the Roof of the world. Because of the pandemic of the coronavirus, the minister of tourism of nepal said today that the decision was taken “as a precaution, against possible outbreaks” at the top.
The ban covers hundreds of climbers from all over the planet, that would have taken advantage of a brief window of good weather for their ascents. And that they would be provided with the purchase of permission to access the summit, more than 4 million dollars to the coffers of the state in nepal.
The summit of mount Everest marks the border between Nepal and China that already yesterday it had banned access. It is the second that this happens in recent times. In fact, already in 2015, after the devastating earthquake that destroyed many cities in nepal, all the climbs were banned
