The president, Donald Trump has announced the suspension of all travel from Europe to the United States for the next 30 days, in an attempt to curb the spread of the coronavirus. In a rare speech in the Oval Office, Trump has stated that the European Union “has not taken the same precautions,” the United States has put in place to contain the epidemic.
The United Kingdom is not included in the travel ban to the mainland.
Trump has also stated that “soon to take emergency action” to provide a financial cushion to small businesses and to people affected by the coronavirus”.
