the TEHRAN – Iran would create mass graves to bury the numerous victims of the coronavirus in the islamic Republic, which could actually be a lot more of the 514 officially confirmed today. So says the Washington Post, which published satellite images which it identifies as the site of Behesht-e Masoumeh, in the province of Qom, 80 miles south of Tehran, which was the first outbreak known of the epidemic in the Country.
The newspaper writes that in October, the site appeared to be empty and now it would have been filled with more than 250 corpses. According to the daily american, which quotes the analysis of some experts, this is a space of over 90 metres and the equivalent of two football fields.
Iranian authorities began digging a pair of trenches for victims just days after the government disclosed the initial outbreak.

Only two days after Iran confirmed its first two cases of coronavirus, the Washington Post, a strange comings and goings, it was found near the site of the outbreak, at the Behesht-e Masoumeh, near Qom. Where on the 21st of February, it began to dig a new section of the cemetery. This is proved by the satellite images. As the virus began to spread, the hole was wider. Two large pits with a length of 90 metres were already visible from space. Analysts have confirmed that this space was created to accommodate the victims of the coronavirus.
Iran is among the Countries most infected in the world, with more than 10 thousand test positive, and more than 500 dead, including members of parliament and also a counsellor of the supreme leader Khamenei. These satellite images prove, according to the WP, that the number of dead would be significativamento higher than what has been declared by Tehran. In a video shared by Bbc Persia on march 3, the reporter describes the situation at the Behesht-e Masoumeh, showing the transport of material in the cemetery. “This is the section for the victims coronavirus”, you hear in the video, where you see men that are protected by a wearing blue overalls, “More than 80 people have been buried here so far, and they speak of only 34 dead”. Refers to the last February 28.
But we still didn’t have a full picture of the number of deaths caused by the virus in the city. Another video surfaced when on March 3 @bbcpersian shared this video allegedly filmed in the cemetery. pic.twitter.com/To5ItTW0m7
