In February last year, Robert Mueller prosecution against 13 Russian citizens and three Russian companies, after suspicions of interference in the us presidential elections in 2016.
In a document submitted by the prosecutor’s team, to a court in Washington, alleges that the over thousand pages of classified evidence that has been sent to one of the accused companies has been published on a fildelningssajt.
a post on Twitter from a user named ”@HackingRedstone”, where it says:
”We have access to the special prosecutor mueller’s database, then we hacked a Russian server with info about Rysslandsutredningen”. The user links to a fildelningssajt and adds: ”You can see all the files Mueller had about the IRA and the Russian relationship. Happy reading!”
IRA stands for the Internet Research Agency, which according to Reuters is known for its ”trollande” on the social media and is one of the accused companies.
a few characters on the us servers have been hacked but that hack had occurred in the Russian servers. Russia has, according to the prosecutors also confirmed to the FBI that the account that put up the material had a Russian IP address.
Prosecutors say that the names and structure of folders that is published online accords with the material that was sent to the company and that have not been made public for the public. However, it should not have contained any sensitive data.
that the leak once again raises questions about the continued attempts to interfere in the ongoing investigation, and that the material published was modified to make it look like they published the documents, all the evidence Mueller had against the company, writes The Guardian.
”It is a part of a desinformationskampanj targeted to (what it seems) to discredit the ongoing investigations of Russian involvement in the U.S. political system,” write the prosecutors in the document that was submitted to the court.
