Founded in 1962, ADOSEN today carries out prevention actions with young people from kindergarten to university. Its educational approach to promoting health, solidarity and citizenship, called “reflexive prevention ©”, is based on a “philosophical” dialogue to develop the critical thinking and argumentative skills of its audience. It consists of providing young people with tools useful for building their judgment, complex thinking, and dialogue with their peers, without dictating behavior.
By working on these skills, the young person becomes their own prevention tool. When faced with a problem, he can draw conclusions with discernment and common sense. It is thus better equipped to deal with fake news and other theories, particularly conspiracy theories. ADOSEN makes this reflective questioning the cornerstone of a prevention approach which is intended to be positive, and not prescriptive, based on the conviction that the deductions reached by students on their own will have more weight than the injunction of a teacher. animator imposed in a verticality relationship.
Different intervention formats are offered by ADOSEN, on defined themes. Targeting primarily students from CM2 to university, the “Stéréotypes Stéréomeufs” tool offers, for example, the ability to deconstruct gender stereotypes through scenarios, activities and moments of dialogue, summarized in an educational guide and supported by a web series developed in partnership with Arte.
Another format set up by ADOSEN, Coop-Addict is a program for preventing addictive behavior in the form of a board game. With two versions depending on the target audience (11-13 years and 14 years and over), the program addresses addictive behaviors through five themes: Dependency
Currently in the testing phase in several schools in France, a new tool dedicated to the fight against bullying in schools should be made public in November. Aimed at the youngest (nursery and first grade), it is based on a kamishibai, a paper theater of Japanese origin, to engage in joint work on living together.
During the 2022-2023 school year, nearly 35,000 students directly benefited from ADOSEN’s actions, during 1,600 interventions supported by the association and completely free for the beneficiaries.
In addition to the interventions provided this year by the association’s facilitators, ADOSEN aims to train youth stakeholders (teachers, school nurses, facilitators, etc.) in its approach and to share its tools with them. More than 940 supervisors have been trained. To help them identify and prioritize health topics to address with middle and high school students, ADOSEN also provides them with Filgood, a tool for diagnosing needs using anonymized questionnaires, which analyze the gap between perceived well-being and experience of the young person. The results, presented in the form of graphs, highlight the significant health themes among the students. Then a range of educational content is made available to teachers to address the desired issues.
The association is now seeking to make itself known to as many people as possible to increase the number of its users by informing people of the benefits of its approach and providing training to those interested. ADOSEN also offers skills sponsorships to enable employees to give meaning to their work by getting involved in a just cause.
Finally, the association is always looking for new donors and patrons, aware of the importance of defending and disseminating the values of health, citizenship and solidarity among the younger generation. Don’t hesitate to contribute to the 2023 donation campaign.
