tweede-editie-van-de-midzomerwegwandeling-biedt-routes-voor-iedereen

The Rotary Club Bergum is hosting the second edition of the Midsummer Road Walk on Saturday evening, June 22nd. The starting and finishing point is at Brasserie Om de Dobben in Burgum, and participants can choose between two routes: 5 km and 10 km. The routes will take walkers along beautiful spots that are not usually accessible to the public.

New this year is the 5 km route. “Last year, we only had a 10 km route,” says Katharina Zuiderveld from the Rotary Club Bergum. “Now, children and those who cannot walk long distances can also join. It promises to be a lovely stroll.”

Plenty to see and experience along the way. There will be information about the ice age, a photo exhibition by photographer Henk Kloosterhuis, and the birdwatchers will be present. As walkers head towards Hurdegaryp through the meadows, they will hear the sounds of a homemade organ, and the village gardens will be open to the public.

A learning experience awaits as well, with signs along the route providing historical facts and information about the landscape. The Fryske Gea will also share more about the natural areas along the way.

The proceeds from the Midsummer Walk will benefit Stichting ELF, a regional organization that does important work for children with disabilities. More information can be found at www.elfriesland.nl

Join in on the walk! Volunteers from the Rotary Club Burgum will assist in organizing and guiding this fun and informative walk. Tickets can be purchased at www.midzomerwegwandeling.nl for €10 for adults and €5 for children (excluding administration fees).

Don’t miss out on this opportunity to explore the hidden gems of Burgum and support a good cause!
