The EU-Parliament has enacted more transparency: Leading MEPs will in future have to publish online, with which lobbyists they meet. Resistance came, apparently, from the Christian Democrats and the liberals.

The European Parliament has voted for stricter rules for Meeting with lobbyists. With 380 to 224 votes by the EU Parliament in Brussels voted for a corresponding Revision of the rules of your house. Important members as Rapporteur, and the group Chairman are required to publish, in future online, which lobbyists they meet for their work. So far, this information was voluntary.

At the request of the Christian Democrats was the rules about the new transparency, the secret vote. Representatives of social Democrats and Greens had criticised in the run-up to as ridiculous.

The Green MEP Sven Giegold said it was a “milestone for European democracy”. More transparency is good for trust in the European Parliament. In the constitutional Committee in the European Parliament according to him, previously, especially the social Democrats, Green, Left, and EU-skeptics for stricter rules, while the Christian Democrats and Liberals were against it.
