A journalist from B. T. is punishable with ten daily a 500 crowns for having brought confidential information about Omar el-Hussein’s family in april 2015.
the Articles were brought, two months after Omar el-Hussein attacked the kulturhuset Krudttønden on Østerbro and the synagogue in Krystalgade in Copenhagen.
This was stated by the Copenhagen city Court. In addition, the journalist pay the costs.
In the case, the prosecution made a distinction between information about Omar el-Hussein’s family, and about himself.
– It is manifest that society has an interest in knowing who Omar el-Hussein was at the time, after he had committed a terrorist attack, says senior prosecutor, Søren Harbo.
– But it is not in the same way, apparently, that society has a claim for or has an interest in knowing all about his family, he adds.
the Information in the articles include, among other social problems for both Omar el-Hussein’s mother, father and younger brother.
– It does not the public know what they have had to grapple with over the years, says Søren Harbo.
B. T. has chosen to appeal the judgment to the court of appeal, inform the editor-in-chief Michael Dyrby, who believe that matter is fundamental and important for the Danish media.
He points out that the essential is to find out how the attack could happen.
– So we must look at whether the authorities have had no opportunity to intervene at an earlier stage.
– Therefore, it is interesting to see how he has grown up, and under which family circumstances he is grown up, and have been young in, say Channel.
editor-in-chief points out that the city of Copenhagen in the first instance, had indicated that it was a resourceful family, as Omar el-Hussein came from.
It turned out not to be correct, says the Channel and adds:
– Therefore we think it is important, when you should judge, why a terrorist is being created in Copenhagen. There you can not just settle to see a young man and his deeds. That belongs in the family with the full picture.
the Politician Finn Rudaizky (DF) was in February 2017 sentenced in the case. As a member of the Copenhagen city council, he was punished with ten daily fines for having leaked confidential information to the press.
