Oria will become the first municipality in the province that has completely renovated all its control panels and light points, both in the main nucleus as well as in adjacent neighborhoods. This is thanks to the Efficiency Plans managed and implemented by the Almeria Provincial Council. The municipality has received the second project to reduce light pollution, CO2 and increase savings in municipal electricity bills.
The Energy Efficiency Plans include both the first and second projects. These plans are funded by 80% of European Union Feder funds (IDAE), 15% of Almeria Provincial Council and 5% remaining from the municipalities.
This will allow the complete renovation of the 1,328 municipal light points and 21 control centers. This action will result in an additional 198 lightpoints if the town can replace the Feder EELL 2018 Plan charged light points and 15 more light points with municipal funds.
These projects will allow you to save energy since LED-type luminaires consume less electricity. They also reduce carbon dioxide emissions, which is in compliance with international regulations like the Kyoto protocol.
Angel Escobar (Vice President and Deputy for Public Works), stressed that the program that is managed with funds from European Union was crucial to the future of future generations. We must all work together to protect the environment. Institutional collaboration is essential and provides invaluable support for our municipalities in order to achieve this.
The deputy also stated that these facilities increase security by providing lighting that is tailored to each municipality’s needs and significantly reduce the costs of city councils. The municipalities will now have more money to invest in their neighboring communities, carrying out activities in various areas that improve their quality-of-life and combat depopulation.
