63,745 corona cases were reported to the RKI yesterday.

Compared to the previous week, there is a minus of 19 percent.

But: The public holiday states of Bavaria and Saarland went on reporting strike yesterday. As a result, the overall balance is around 10,000 cases lower than would otherwise have been expected.

Without the holiday effect there would have been no or only a small minus.

The comparison of the previous week of the 7-day average continues to turn upwards despite the holiday – which indicates a weakening of the downward momentum and is possibly a harbinger of a trend reversal.

The 7-day incidence is also falling slightly today, from 318 to 314.

But: This decline is mainly due to the reporting strikes mentioned.

In ten of the 16 federal states, on the other hand, the incidence is increasing, albeit only slightly in some cases.

And: In addition to Schleswig-Holstein, Brandenburg now also has an incidence that is above the level of the previous week.

The school year has already started in three federal states: Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, North Rhine-Westphalia and Schleswig-Holstein.

These three also have the highest incidence among states.

That was different two weeks ago today. Since the three ranked in the (lower) midfield.

How this school start effect comes about – whether it is real or just tested – is unclear.

140 corona deaths were reported to the RKI yesterday.

That’s 30 fewer than a week ago.
