The former national Council and head of the SVP , Switzerland, Toni Brunner , directs the election campaign of the SVP cantonal party of St. Gallen for the national Council elections in October of this year.

Walter Gartmann, President of the SVP St. Gallen, praises Brunner’s charisma and his ability to inspire people and mobilize. Brunner was his candidate of choice for this task, was confirmed by Gartmann, compared to the Keystone Agency SDA, a report of the “view Online” from the Saturday evening.

The 44-year-old Brunner was elected in 1995 as the youngest national councillor of all time. He was then 21 years old.

From 2008 to 2016 was Brunner, the President of the largest party of Switzerland. Under him, the SVP achieved in the parliamentary elections of 2011, with 29.4 per cent, a record result. Brunner, who is regarded as a political son of the Swiss people’s party chief strategist Christoph Blocher, has shaped the party, its tight immigration policy, the anti-European and anti-environmental course and the stake for the army and the agriculture.

During his party presidency, the deportation initiative, the initiative against Mass immigration, launched the self-determination initiative and the enforcement initiative. However, the cleavage of the BDP fell in Brunner’s term of office. (nag/sda)
