The leader of the PP and candidate for the Presidency of the Government, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, has warned this Sunday that Pedro Sánchez “trusts” the general elections of July 23 to a “carambola” to “reblock the governability” of Spain with the ‘no is no’ that Mariano Rajoy already experienced in 2016. For this reason, he has asked for the vote for the Popular Party to “break the political blocs that Sanchismo has built” and to “change the alliances against it for the State pacts “, according to Europa Press.
This has been pronounced by Feijóo in his speech at the Pontevedra bullring, where the PP has gathered nearly 12,000 people, according to party sources. It is a symbolic place for the ‘popular’ candidate, talisman of his four absolute majorities in Galicia, since the first appointment in which he attended after succeeding Manuel Fraga in 2009.
In various stands hung the poster ‘It’s time’, the motto of the PP in this campaign of the generals. Feijóo himself recalled that in 2009, when he achieved his first absolute majority in Galicia, he presented himself with the slogan ‘Chegou o momento’. “And today we say again that it is the moment of change in Spain. It is the moment of Spain”, he has proclaimed before a dedicated audience.
Feijóo, the president of the Xunta, Alfonso Rueda, and Rajoy have entered the bullring at 12:00 sharp, to the rhythm of ‘People have the power’ by Patti Smith, and have greeted many of those present, who were waving flags of Spain and the PP.
In front of a devoted public (this is his most massive rally of the campaign), Feijóo has affirmed that on his tour of Spain he is seeing that the Spanish no longer “trust” the Government and has stressed that change is “being able to trust the Government”.
“When Felipe González said in the year 82 that the change is for Spain to work, we say in the year 2023 that the change is that we can once again trust the Government of Spain”, the president of the ‘popular’ has added.
In this sense, Feijóo has stressed that “the change of 23, as was the change of 82, is confidence” so that Spain is not satisfied with being in the economic positions at the bottom but at the head and has “stability”. . “I propose a Spain that has stability”, he has assured, adding that stability is “the opposite of lurching”.
Having said this, he has asked the citizens to vote to “break the blocks that have been built in the Spanish citizenship and the political blocks that Sanchismo has built.” “I ask for a vote so that a majority of citizens join forces and I ask for a vote to change the alliances against them for State pacts,” she recounted.
Thus, he has proposed to do in Spain what he achieved in Galicia, with four consecutive absolute majorities, since, as he has pointed out, July 23 is the time to “renew concord, normalize respect and open a new era in politics and in Spanish society”.
In his speech, interrupted several times by the applause of the militants and attendees, the president of the ‘populares’ has indicated that those who “divided them and now can no longer win”, “now trust him to have a carambola to return to block the governability of Spain” after the elections on July 23. “Do you remember that ‘no is no’ and what part of the ‘no’ they have understood? Well, I say that they do not do the no is no again, we are going to vote for the yes is yes and that they do not block Spain again as President Rajoy was blocked, as he tried twice until they kicked him out”, he has demanded.
However, he has stressed that the Spanish no longer trust those who gave Bildu the key to the governance of the country; of those who eliminated the crime of sedition, reduced embezzlement, granted pardons; of those who approved the Law of only yes is yes; of those who divided the citizenry and of those who only governed for themselves. “The Spaniards no longer trust us and that is why we are going to vote,” he indicated.
After assuring that they are not going to elect him to “lie to them”, he has appealed to vote on July 23 “with more enthusiasm than ever” and “show that you cannot cheat”, since “people do not admits” and “knows very well how to distinguish between a politician who cheats and another who doesn’t. Feijóo has stressed the importance of the given word. “I will not be Pedro Sánchez, I will be the one you know and have voted for: someone who is convinced of the possibilities that this country has and a president for everyone, whether they vote for me or not,” he promised.
Emulating the campaign slogan that the Madrid president, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, used in the last regional elections, Feijóo has called to go to the polls “with desire”. “We are going to vote against the reluctance that everything stays the same because it only suits them and we are going to vote with enthusiasm, with the desire that the change will favor all of Spain. And that is why I ask you to win and win with enthusiasm”, has highlighted.
Finally, he has assured the attendees that he wants them to be “proud” of him, “whatever happens on 23J.” “I pledge my word. Everything I am in life and in politics I owe you and I am going to give my all so as not to disappoint anyone”, he has promised.
