National Outdoor Play Day 2024: What a Celebration!
What an active afternoon it was on Wednesday during the National Outdoor Play Day 2024! Within the municipality of Nunspeet, there was an abundance of playfulness. Despite the threatening clouds, it fortunately remained mostly dry, allowing children to fully enjoy all the activities.
Playing outdoors is not only fun but also very important for the health and development of children. ‘Playing outdoors promotes physical activity, which is essential for the development of strong muscles and bones. By playing outside, they learn social skills such as cooperation, sharing, and communication. Children who regularly play outdoors in nature are less likely to experience stress and have a better mood, they have the opportunity to relax and use their creativity. In addition, children who play outside also sleep better and longer, which is important for emotional and social development.’ says Merel van Zandbergen. She is a neighborhood sports coach at Nunspeet Moves and her colleague Matilde Valk has taken on the organization this year. Nunspeet Moves once again organized fun outdoor activities at three different locations this year.

In Hulshorst, the playground next to the Beatrixschool was a bustling center of action. Children enjoyed mountain biking, zoomed around on scooters, and tried out their skills with archery. The radiant faces and enthusiastic shouts of the children made it clear that everyone was having a good time.

The schoolyard of Boaz-Jachin in Elspeet was a true arena of sports and games. The laser games, organized by the Nunspeet Welfare Foundation, were a great success. In addition, there were lively games of football and hockey, where children fully indulged themselves. Parents cheered on their children enthusiastically and visibly enjoyed the sporting performances.
