What is the stunning differences in Europe: The inhabitants of Germany-tax purchasing power-adjusted figure of around 15 Times, for the financing of public broadcasting, such as the inhabitants of Poland to the state radio. Not quite as much of the program varies in scope, is held to “basic care” for necessary: The spectrum ranges from 90 (!) public Radio – and TV-programmes in Germany for up to nine programmes in Latvia and Sweden. According to the program hours: 800 000 vary it a year in Germany, Latvia and Sweden have to settle for with 80 000.

Still cost more interesting is a comparison of the program, because even if public broadcasters do not pursue profit maximization, to apply Yes no the public funds. The highest production costs per transmission hour, Latvia has 12 378 euros in Germany, the lowest with 342 euros. There seems to be very much more cost – effective Radio as an expensive TV produced program. But even if you take this into account, the differences are gigantic.

These and other insights we owe to a team of researchers headed by Tobias Eberwein (Austrian Academy of Sciences, Vienna), the just, the first data of a Europe-wide comparison of “measures of public broadcasting” has been published. The scientists examined 17 countries. Even more exciting it will be, if you clarify soon their findings at the Output, because there are ranges of what to call the researchers also are simply not appropriate indicators.
