Some have already förhoppningsfullt called ”The inner circle” for a Swedish ”House of cards”. Hmmm, sure, this is a murder of a young female skjutjärnsreporter, spectacular conspiracies behind the scenes, unholy alliances in the bedroom, drevande media, a fierce power struggle for control of the site on the top – and even a goodly Rysslandsspår.

But the updated tv version of the Per Schlingmanns ”The eye” from 2017 is hardly so demonic fateful as the american series – and significantly spretigare and dialogmässigt torftigare.

despite a somewhat tentative start, soon get up steam in his political drama. In the centre stands a fresh politician, David Ehrling (Niklas Engdahl). He is a married, former business lawyer who thrown themselves in headfirst into politics, quickly climbed to the top and become the minister of economic affairs. In connection with the sitting prime minister Elvira Body (Anna Bjelkerud) signals his departure looks Ehrling chance to reach even higher. An experienced mature female politikerräv (Evamaria Björk), however, offers hard resistance.

David Ehrlings the not-so-secret weapon is his highly skilled press officer Lena Nilsdotter (Nanna Blondell). A powerduo as is the series ‘ great strength and the epicenter. Niklas Engdahl has a beguiling ”young Hugh Grant”-like charisma. Nanna Blondell play with a compelling energy, a real fixer as the style and energy reminiscent of the character Olivia Pope in the White house series ”Scandal”. She krishanterar the skandalrykten about the famous who suddenly begins to stalk her boss almost as neat as his american colleague.

the DN interview: New tv-series about the political game behind the scenes

the series has the current political details, and also partly recorded during the height of the Almedalsvecka, with the dj battle and everything (even if the top politicians, in reality, dropped out of that particular stunt) creates a good feeling of presence.

the Series gives David Ehrling, a much more turbulent family life than he has in the book. Even if it means a lot of apt interiors from elite designer Gotlandssemestrar (think very linen, sheepskin lining, clean wooden surfaces and tight ceramics) then it means the track is still a bit too many aimless digressions.

Olle Sarri plays the family black sheep, the ever truth-telling brother who is well thought of as a counterbalance to David’s strebermentalitet and egocentrism. But no harms have equipped Sarri with the Swedish tv-history, the most aparta wig, in the ”Three suns”-class, which means that you can’t concentrate on anything he says.

”politics as theater” and ”The inner circle” takes, above all, fixed on the theatrical in the political game. Given the many relevant details, so we miss yet also sharper political konfliktytor in the dialogue. David keeps, for example, an unexpected policy speech that would have been a perfect moment for the writers to shine, but it will be the most platitudes.

the Interest for the Swedish policy has hardly been reduced after winter’s dramatic crisis of the executive, and the innovative, blocköverskridande agreements. The subject is clearly underused in american fiction.

Hanne-Vibeke Holst-based trilogy ”the crown Princess”, ”Kungamordet” and ”Drottningoffret” – which revolved around the Swedish social democracy – is over a decade old. Approximately in the same week came the hilarious comedy drama ”Four more years”, written by former political reporter Wille firm behrman, who took the viewers into the corridors of power. But since then it’s been pretty quiet.

”The inner circle” – which is set during the hot Almedalen week – are hardly international class, but fills in all of the cases definitely a need.
