Beerschot VA Offers New Top Contract
Beerschot VA is making its return to the Jupiler Pro League next season and is eager to secure its spot in the league as soon as possible. This requires a squad with sufficient quality, and the club hopes to keep one of its key players on board.
At the end of last month, the Antwerp-based club announced some big news. An agreement was reached with Dirk Kuyt to extend his contract as head coach. His coaching staff will also remain in place next season at ’t Kiel, marking a significant development.
However, the work is far from over. Kuyt will need a squad capable of securing their spot in the Jupiler Pro League next season. Additional reinforcements are essential, and the club’s management is already working on it.
Thorsten Theys, the prospective new CEO, recently confirmed that several contracts are in advanced stages. “I have already drawn up 5 contracts for players we have reached an agreement with over the past few days. We are now in contact with those players to finalize the details,” he stated on the club’s website.
In addition to strengthening the squad, it is crucial to retain the standout players from the previous season. One such player is Thibaud Verlinden, who played a significant role in winning the title with 5 goals and 10 assists. The 24-year-old was even named ‘Player of the Year’ in the Challenger Pro League.
Verlinden, however, is entering the final year of his contract with Beerschot. Moreover, he has attracted interest from foreign clubs in recent weeks. To prevent his departure, the club has reportedly made an offer to extend his contract. The proposed deal would add three more seasons to his contract, making him one of the highest-paid players at ’t Kiel. It remains to be seen whether Verlinden will accept the offer.
