She had several times expressed her reservations about their delivery without taking a clear position. For the first time, this Wednesday, July 12, Marine Le Pen said she was firmly opposed to the delivery of arms to Ukraine, at war with Russia since February 24, 2022.

On the sidelines of a visit to Beauvais in the Oise, the leader of the RN deputies in the National Assembly, considered “irresponsible” the continuation of missile delivery to Ukraine. And to add: “I do not understand that Emmanuel Macron is not fully focused on the organization of a conference for peace, to end this war”.

This position follows the Head of State’s announcement on Tuesday July 11 to deliver long-range Scalp missiles to help Ukraine carry out its counter-offensive. Regularly singled out for her past acquaintances with Vladimir Poutine, Marine le Pen has so far been careful not to be categorical on the subject.

And for good reason, the refusal to come to the aid of Ukraine would risk fueling the discourse of its detractors who accuse it of supporting Russian power. A recent report by the National Assembly’s commission of inquiry into foreign interference accuses the RN in particular of being a “transmission belt” of Russian power.

Since the outbreak of the conflict, Marine Le Pen has repeatedly expressed her reluctance to deliver arms to Ukraine. “This makes us co-belligerents”, argues the candidate for the presidential election on March 1, 2022 on BFMTV.

However, at the time, Marine Le Pen justified her position by “the completely new role” that the European Union was taking on. “The problem is that entries into the war must obtain democratic validation”, advances the deputy of Nord-Pas-de-Calais. And to add: “This raises questions about the military sovereignty of our country”.
