Rather twice than once. After having already mentioned, Monday at Matignon, France’s criminal response to the riots which set the country ablaze, Olivier Marleix intends to insist on this subject again on Tuesday afternoon. The boss of the LR deputies intends to take advantage of the session of “questions to the government”, in the Assembly, to publicly question Élisabeth Borne.

His speech being scheduled around 3 p.m., just after an Insoumise intervention, the deputy for Eure-et-Loir intends to step up to the plate on a subject that he considers essential in the aftermath of the violence. “What are the criminal consequences? We ask to know the balance sheets department by department because the French must know how our justice sanctions those responsible for this violence. And when they are minors, it is absolutely necessary to seek the criminal responsibility of the parents and not to let go of anything on it, ”supports the parliamentarian. For him, these detailed data would allow a comparative and geographical reading of the jurisdictions. “(These institutions) render justice in the name of the French people and the French people have the right to know their results”, he insists.

Olivier Marleix has already brandished an article of the Penal Code “never used” but whose existence would, according to him, put pressure on the parents of young offenders. “This article L227-17 (two years in prison and a 30,000 euro fine) provides precisely for combating parental deficiencies. Only that people can understand. And if the problem to apply it is a problem of means, then let us recruit temporary magistrates if necessary because all that happened cannot go unpunished. We are faced with a generation of impunity”, denounces the elected official, believing that the French must have “assurance” of the exercise of “severe and rapid” justice.

Olivier Marleix believes that the text on justice currently under debate should allow solutions to emerge in terms of means. But when he hears the Keeper of the Seals, Éric Dupond-Moretti, address these subjects, he remains unsatisfied. “For the moment, it is not very convincing. It is not enough to have firm words, you need resolute actions”, judges the boss of the LR deputies.
