A reprieve or a boost? Emmanuel Macron’s confidence curve, like that of his Prime Minister, Élisabeth Borne, is starting to rise again. In their wake, the main ministers also see their future prospects improve. In a tense international context, after the Hamas terrorist attacks against Israel on October 7 and the IDF offensive against Gaza, the French seem to be turning to the executive, in fear of events on the territory.
The President of the Republic’s calls for unity have been heard and resonate with the concerns of a large majority of French people. So that this rise is not just a respite, Emmanuel Macron will also have to display his firmness on immigration while the project led by Gérald Darmanin arrives in Parliament on November 6.
On the other hand, Jean-Luc Mélenchon’s attitude does not benefit him at all. The leader of France Insoumise loses two points to find himself at 15%! At the same level as Nicolas Dupont-Aignan, behind Éric Zemmour! The gap is widening with his main competitor in his camp, François Ruffin, who took care to distance himself from the polemical remarks of the LFI leaders who refused to describe the attacks and the Hamas movement as “terrorist”.
Certainly the former presidential candidate strengthens his positions on the far left (4 to 49%), but he still remains behind François Ruffin and Fabien Roussel (50%) and above all loses support on the left (–5 to 19% ). Difficult for him to continue to pose as a unifier of the left!
The former candidate for the 2019 European elections, supported by the PS, returned to his level of June of that year. A good starting point for a future application under the same conditions next June? He is supported by a good portion of far-left (35%) and left (29%) supporters.
The president of the LFI group in the National Assembly falls and finds herself last in the ranking (6%). Proof if it were needed that his attitude of denial in the face of Hamas terrorism is disapproved by the French. Even in his camp: – 4 on the far left (23%).
