The renewal of the institution’s board of directors has been agreed, which replaces the one that was chosen in 2018 and has been commanded by Juli de Miquel.
The Barcelona Arbitration Court (TAB) begins a new stage under the presidency of Frederic Munné. The Barcelonan heads the board of directors that takes over from the governing body chaired since April 2018 by Juli de Miquel, which closes his stage at the head of the entity. The vice-presidents of the TAB in this new mandate will fall to Antoni Fitó i Baucells (vice-president of the Barcelona Chamber of Commerce) and the notary Antoni Bosch Carrera. The registrar Luis Fernández del Pozo will be the new secretary and the new board of directors is completed by the lawyer Cristina Vallejo i Ros and the lawyer Joan Martínez García.
Munné (Barcelona, 1966) is a lawyer, Doctor of Law and arbitrator and was already part of the TAB board of directors as a member. The also member of the governing board of the Illustrious Bar Association of Barcelona (ICAB) will chair the TAB, as explained by the body in a statement, “with the aim of reinforcing its status as an international benchmark, further enhancing its transparency and good governance and amplify the culture of alternative conflict resolution to judicial procedures”.
The new president of the TAB has declared that he faces “this responsibility from the passion for arbitration and the conviction that, now more than ever, society requires that arbitration facilitate the management of conflicts in an agile, efficient and economical way”. Munné thanked the exemplary work of Juli de Miquel at the head of the institution, as well as “the confidence of the members of the new board of directors and the institutions associated with TAB”. The jurist has stressed that “as a result of the crises that hit our society, the arbitration task must decisively help reduce judicial congestion in favor of the rights and well-being of citizens”.
